Deep Type® Methodology

Gilburg Leadership Institute believes effective leaders must have awareness of their natural strengths and limitations. We use the Deep Type® methodology, founded on Jungian Typology, to help leaders gain a deeper understanding of the impact of their innate, individual strengths and limitations on themselves, their leadership behaviors and their organizations.

Successful leadership requires an awareness of natural strengths and limitations. Leadership performance can improve significantly when leaders develop an awareness of their innate strengths and limitations. Similarly, leadership teams operate optimally when members use their collective strengths to minimize the effects of their limitations.

GLI’s approach to Jungian Typology . The Deep Type® methodology was developed by Alan Gilburg as a way to either confirm the results of the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI®), or to determine a person’s Type without the use of the instrument. By way of a one-on-one, guided conversation, the Deep Type® process engages the client in mutual confirmation of her own Type through a logical process of elimination. We agree on a final Type, and the client is clear on the process and can concur with the outcome. Thus the process becomes a teaching tool and affords the client a deeper insight into personal blind spots and courage issues. The Deep Type® methodology is so powerful, we at GLI have not used the MBTI® in over ten years.

Alan Gilburg’s book, Deep Type is now available online.
